Boilerplate, two lengths.
Copy either verbatim or trim it — both are yours.
One sentence
Touch ID for sudo enables fingerprint authentication for sudo on macOS 14+, including inside tmux. MIT licensed.
One paragraph
macOS can authenticate sudo with Touch ID, but the configuration does not survive system updates and breaks inside tmux. Touch ID for sudo sets it up correctly, keeps it working across updates, and handles the tmux case that the stock configuration misses. MIT licensed and open source.
Four ways into the story.
macOS ships this and then loses it
Touch ID for sudo is a stock macOS capability whose configuration does not survive a system update. The interesting part is not the feature — it is why it keeps disappearing.
The case the stock setup misses
Inside tmux the prompt never appears, because the session is not attached to the window server the way the PAM module expects. Handling that is most of what the project does.
A script that edits PAM, published in full
Anything that touches PAM deserves to be read before it is run. The whole installer is MIT on GitHub, and the project ships an undo.
Unaffiliated with Apple
Touch ID is an Apple trademark. The project is independent and should be described that way.

Press FAQ.
Can I use the screenshots, icon and copy?
Yes, freely and without asking — in articles, videos and social posts, for coverage of the studio or its products. The one request is that the icon is not recoloured, stretched or restyled.
Is anything here under embargo?
No. Everything on this page is public the moment you read it, so publish whenever suits your schedule. There is no date to hold to and no coverage expected in return.
Is the developer available for interviews?
Yes — written questions usually come back within a day, and calls can be arranged across European and Middle East time zones. The contact form reaches the person who wrote the software, not a press desk.
Something is missing or looks out of date. What then?
Ask through the contact form. If a fact on this page has moved, a screenshot is stale, or you need an asset at a size that is not published here, it can usually be supplied the same day.
